Kenneth + Charis // Guys Mills, PA + Erie National Wildlife Refuge Family Session

Sometime last year Charis and I connected over Instagram. She and her husband were living a small town called Guys Mills, about an hour or so north of me. They were in school but she was reaching into photography. We met up at a coffee shop in Franklin, PA called Bossa Nova and chatted about our lives, photography, and our stories. She is a sweet girl with the such a gentle presence when you talk with her.

In the fall that year she became pregnant! How exciting! We tried multiple times in the spring to connect again but times were busy and complicated and unfortunately it didn't work out. However, Charis was unaware that her husband, Kenneth, had been attempting to plan a surprise photo shoot for just before their baby girl was born. We had all the details figured out. AND THEN the little lady decided to be born earlier than expected!

While we were so excited that she was born, our plan had been foiled! Kenneth told Charis, and although it was no longer a surprise anymore, we still planned a session. In June, we finally made it happen! I drove up to the little town of Guys Mills where they were living at the time. Just behind their house was a beautiful field, with some perfect golden lighting. After a while, we drove just a mile down the road to the Erie National Wildlife Refuge and spent sometime soaking in the sunset.

Just a couple weeks later, Kenneth + Charis moved away to start a new chapter in their life in the big apple, NYC! I miss these two and wish we could have spent some more time together before they departed. Nevertheless, I am so thankful for the connection God provided and the time we did get to know one another better. I guess I'll just have to add these guys to my list of far away but sweet friends!

Here are some of the images from our time together back in June. <3
